  1. Taryn Gomolchuk- In this collective there is accommodation, acculturation and cultural revitalization, because the male is wearing a head wrap, most likely for religious reason and this collective has allowed or adapted to let this person wear the head wrap instead of the required R.C.M.P hat. Also this collective allows any gender or race to join as long as you're a canadian citizen which shows acculturation.

  3. In this source around twenty to thirty years ago the people that were allowed to work for the RCMP were caucasian men and in the source they have a man of a East Indian or Middle Eastern race and a woman which would not have been allowed not to long ago. With the East Indian man they had to accommodate so that the man would be able to wear his turban instead of the traditional RCMP hat which can also affect our tradition and others might have a negative thing to say about his race but I will stay away from that. Next is the woman in the photo, around twenty to thirty years ago women had fewer rights and would not have been allowed to join the RCMP, letting women join the RCMP has changed the rights for women allowing them to do more and more things.

  4. The source along with it showing many of the effects of globalization including homogenization and accommodation the picture itself is a very neutral picture but their could be two main thought patterns. Either you could say that the east Indian man, because his headgear is an essential part of his tradition, collective identity and individual identity it is a show of how accommodating and multicultural Canada has become. On the flip side however it is also showing how Canada is over accommodating seeing how the North West Mounted Police uniform is not only a part of Canada's history but a symbol of our countries creation and culture. The latter of which is how I see it because the Mounties are one of our nations greatest symbols of pride and when a symbol of pride is changed it really takes away from our nation's collective identity more than the individual and collective identity of a few canadians. Once again this can also show our countries identity through our acceptance and accommodation of all countries. Therefore it is really a accommodation that show our countries multiculturalism and a homogenization of all our cultures.

  5. One of the ways this source shows globalization is that the man on the left is most likely an immigrant. The man being an immigrant shows that Canada is a multicultural country and the man brought his culture and beliefs to Canada with him, creating diversity among our nation. The man on the left is wearing a turban rather than one of the traditional flat brim beige stetson hats that the Northwestern Mounted Police usually wear. This is a social aspect of globalization because the society we live in is accommodating this mans culture. This picture shows accommodation for the man on the left, because the government of Canada has made an exception to the mans culture, allowing him to change the traditional uniform of the NWMP by wearing his turban with his uniform. The collective identity of Canadians is being affected by accommodating the culture of the man, and accepting his culture and beliefs. Canadians as a group are affected by this because the NWMP is a part of our Canadian society and the traditions of our NWMP are being changed. The man’s individual identity is being affirmed because he does not let his beliefs or culture go, meaning he is not afraid to make his culture or beliefs known by others.

  6. This source is portraying how globalization is having negative effects on Canadian identity- individual and collective. In the picture it is clearly shown that the man on the left is from a different culture. Because of the advancements in transportation and communication this man was most likely able to immigrate to our country. The turban that he wears signifies his faith of an islam religion, but the uniform that he wears indicates that he is a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Him not wearing the traditional flat-brim stetson hat; a strong national emblem for the culture and heritage of Canada, and instead wearing his own culture’s turban is an example of our country accommodating the aspects of foreign cultures while compromising our own. Because the government is allowing this, the validity of the collective identity of all RCMP are affected because aspects of any other cultural uniform is allowed. The individual identity of the fellow officers are also being affected because the legitimacy of one of the main aspects of their lives is being questioned. They are starting to doubt the importance of their role in our culture. This is an example of homogenization because the borders between our cultures are being are being erased. The large amount of identities that are affected by this make it a social issue. Globalization should not affect such key features of our culture and identity today.

  7. In this source it shows how different cultures and religions come together. canadian mountain rangers excepting the east indian cultured man into the force. The man though because of his religion and beliefs is now breaking Canadian traditions. By not wearing the hat which is a traditional part of the Canadian mountain rangers uniform.Instead he wears a turban. A big part in the East Indian culture and religion. By canada letting the East Indian man wear the turban instead of the hat shows that they know that the turban is a part of his identity. If they were to make him where the hat instead it would be taking away his identity as an individual. At the same time the man is changing Canada's identity by changing the tradition of the mountain rangers uniform. Triston aginas

  9. The picture in source one shows a man and a women. They both have different different cultures. The man is wearing a turban which shows his culture and it also shows that the RCMP allows all kinds of cultures to work for them. This picture represents how Canada has made accommodations for other cultures do have their traditions. The male and female in the picture in source one most likely respect each other. Even though they are different races they are allowed to keep their same traditions. Noah
